484,139. Valves. HOERBIGER, J. R., and HOERBIGER, A., (trading as HOERBIGER & CO.). Aug. 5, 1937, No. 21656. Convention date, Aug. 7, 1936. [Class 135] An annular non-return valve is provided with a seat movable, to a limited amount, in the direction of movement of the valve member. In the form shown in the Figure the seat member 5 is slidably mounted in a central boss 6 and under the action of springs 7 follows the valve member during its opening movement until the seat encounters a shoulder 8 on the central boss. The usual perforated guard 11 with buffer plate 10 is fitted. In a modification a coiled helical spring is inserted between a flange on the seat and the central boss to serve as a roller. And in a further modification the seat plate is attached to the central boss by a pair of spring arms.
