[Class 103 (v)] In couplings for agricultural machines of the kind including a coupling part mounted on one of the members to be coupled, for engagement with a coupling hook on the other member, and a strong spring acting on the coupling part to maintain the coupling until a predetermined tension is reached and then automatically to release it, the coupling part comprises a pivoted lever having a portion normally projecting transversely to the direction of pull so as to form an abutment for the coupling hook, the abutment portion being capable of movement in the direction of pull against a strong spring and in the opposite direction against a relatively weak spring. As shown, a block 5 is secured, to the forks 4 of one of the members to be coupled, and is recessed to receive one end of a strong adjustable spring 9 which presses a block 14, slidable on the forks 4, against stops 18. The bolt 19, which secures the stops to the forks, also provides a pivot for the double-armed lever 20, the lower arm 21 of which engages the coupling eye 13 of the other member 3 to be coupled. The member 3 is located between the lower edges of the forks and an extension 12 of a member 10 bolted to the block 5. The upper arm 22 of the lever 20 is connected to the block 14 by a light spring 24 and is provided with a handle 29 by which the lever can be rotated. To limit anticlockwise movement of the lever, e.g. when reversing, a pin 31 is mounted in the forks.
