Abstract
483,281. Books; book-covers. MAYOL, P. M. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27700. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1935. [Class 16] A foldable sheet or cover for holding printed &c. matter has pivoted on each half portion a flat sheet, these flat sheets being connected together in such a manner that they will lie within the cover when the latter is closed but will, when the cover is opened, be caused to move about their pivots to form co-planar extensions of their respective cover portions. As shown, the cover 4 comprises two similar superposed sheets which are slightly spaced apart, and two flat sheets 1 are pivoted at 3 between the sheets of the cover 4. Further flat sheets 2 are pivoted at 3<1> in the cover, and are provided with slots 6 which are engaged by pins 7 on the sheets 1. The sheets 1 are connected together by a non-extensible cord 8 which passes through holes 9 to the outside face of the inner sheet of the cover 4. When the cover is folded, the sheets 1 and 2 can be pressed within the cover, but when the cover is opened the sheets 1 and 2 swing automatically about their pivots into the extended position shown. In modifications, elastic cords may be used either alone or in conjunction with non-elastic cords, and the cover may comprise only a single folded sheet with the flat sheets pivoted on the inner face thereof. The pivoted flat sheets are for use in connection with the printed &c. sheets contained within the cover, and may be written on or have printed &c. matter thereon.
