Abstract
483,012. Cathode-ray tubes. RADIOAKT.-GES. D. S. LOEWE. Oct. 8, 1936, No. 27320. Convention date, Oct. 14, 1935. [Class 39 (i)] One or more auxiliary discharge paths independent of the cathode ray are provided in a cathode-ray tube and are used to amplify, generate, modulate or rectify alternating potentials and so to obtain potentials for influencing the cathode ray. The ray and'the auxiliary path may have the same or separate cathodes or the same cathode heater. The auxiliary path may include control, screening and suppressor grids. The Wehnelt cylinder 4, Fig. 1, may contain an auxiliary triode 1.0.. 12 amplifying potentials applied to lead G and feeding these to the deflecting plate 9 by means of a resistance Ra and condenser C inside the tube. The emissive' area 10 of the triode is heated by the same heater as the area 3 from which the ray passing the electrodes 5 .. 7 is emitted. In a modification, the potential amplified by the triode are applied to the cylinder 4 to control the intensity of the cathode ray, this cylinder being connected to a fixed potential through a leak resistance outside the tube. Specifications 443,602 and 460,445 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also an arrangement, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), in which the anode 5 and a control electrode 12<1> co-operate with the emissive area 3 to act as an auxiliary triode amplifier. The application of deflecting potentials to the electrode 12<1> produces amplified potentials at the deflecting plate 8 through the coupling condenser C. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
