482,223. Oil engines. DAIMLERBENZ AKT.-GES, Feb. 15, 1937, No. 4477. Convention date, Feb. 13, 1936: [Class 7 (iii)] A precombustion chamber b communicates with the main combustion space a by way. of several passages, one of which p<1> is disposed in the direction of the fuel jet, flaring conically from the precombustion chamber to the main combustion space and having a narrow opening at the precombustion chamber end so that only part of the fuel can pass through. The other passages m<1> may surround the passage p<1> and be parallel or convergent to the fuel jet, or they may be bent. The passages m<1> open into an annular space n<1> which may open into the main combustion space together with the central passage p<1>. The core piece k<2> in which the central passage is formed may be extended so that the central passage opens independently of the other passages into the main combustion space. When an extended core piece k<2> is used, it may be axially adjustable and tapered on its outside surface so that the width of the annulus o<1> surrounding it may be varied. Specification 449,279 is referred to.
