Abstract
481,870. Mounting instrument-boards. SILENTBLOC, Ltd., and JELLEY, S. W. Aug. 13, 1936, No. 22260. [Class 79 (iv)] [Also in Group XXV] Instrument-boards are yieldably mounted on aeroplanes &c. by means of two or more flexible supports each comprising a pin or sleeve mounted within a surrounding internally. cylindrical member with an intermediate bushing of rubber or the like under initial compression so as to cause it to adhere firmly to both surfaces, one of the elements of the support being attached to the instrumentboard and the other to the part on which the instrument-board is to be mounted with the axes of the two or more supports in alignment to enable the board to be rocked to facilitate access to the back thereof. In the form shown, the compressed rubber bushing D is adhesively located between an outer member A with lugs J<1> bolted to the instrument-board L and an inner sleeve B clamped between the arms E<1> of a forked member E by a bolt C, the member E being formed with a part-cylindrical recess enabling it to be clamped on a main supporting bar H by means of a half collar F secured by bolts G. The bushing D is reduced in axial length between the inner and outer peripheries to increase flexibility whilst the axial length at the inner radius is greater than that at the outer radius to equalize the gripping areas.
