Abstract

481,711. Centrifugal machines. RAMESOHL & SCHMIDT AKT.-GES. June 18, 1937, No. 17068. Convention date, June 22, 1936. [Class 23] A clarifying centrifuge, for de-aerating cider or the like and discharging it mixed with carbonic acid gas, consists of a bowl 1 fed from the vessel 2 at its top and supplying a paring chamber 5 through channels 4 at its base. The paring channels 6 lie between two discs 8, 9, the former being of less diameter than the latter, and they communicate with the discharge tube 7 and the pressure conduit 10 which contains a throttle 11 for regulating the depth of immersion of the paring discs. Carbonic acid gas is passed through the conduits 13, 14 to the space between the paring member and the bowl liner. Air is removed from the liquid during its passage through the bowl and carbonic acid gas is absorbed according to the adjustment of the gas pressure. In a modification the paring members are arranged at the top of the bowl around the inlet pipe and the gas supply channels are curved inversely to the liquid discharge channels. The channels are arranged to cross so that an injector effect helps to entrain the gas.
