Abstract

Milk is purified by centrifugal treatment, the milk being supplied to the centrifuge under pressure so that a free surface thereof at the inlet is prevented and formation of butter does not take place. The milk may be supplied to and discharged from the centrifuge bowl through pipe lines, or may be discharged through an open outlet the increase in pressure in the bowl being obtained, for example, by throttling. A centrifuge with conical liner discs is described.
