Abstract

481,061. Knitting-machines. WACHSMAN, J. April 27, 1937, No. 12050. [Class 74 (ii)] Yarn passing to a knitting-machine is led between two sets of take-up fingers 34, 41 carried by levers 24-25 and 40 respectively pivotally supported in a housing 10, the fingers 41 being raised to take-up slack by the action of a weight 44. The lever 24-25 is biassed against a stop 30 by a spring 29 and carries two further porcelain fingers 26, 27 whereby an excessively tensioned yarn rocks the lever 24-25 into engagement with a stop-motion contact 11. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3 the yarn is also led over a detector 17 which, on yarn breakage, is moved by a weight 19 into engagement with a contact 12 to effect stoppage. In a modification the detector 17 is dispensed with and the lever 40 is provided with means for engaging the contact 12.
