479,638. Resilient couplings. GETEFO GES. FUR TECHNISCHEN FORTSCHRITT. Feb. 15, 1937, No. 4461. Convention date, Feb. 14, 1936. [Class 80 (ii)] A resilient shaft coupling comprises a number of concentric rubber layers 6, 7, 8, adhering to the end-faces of driving and driven discs, and the resiliency of the material of the individual layers increases successively radially outwards of the coupling, whereby the rubber is uniformly stressed under torque. The layers adhere to common discs 3 or to separate annular discs 24, 25, 26, bolted to the coupling flanges. The outer layer may diverge outwardly near its periphery, have a peripheral groove, or be considerably more resilient than the remaining lavers to reduce the stress thereon. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also a construction in which the inner and outer peripheries of outwardly tapering rubber layers 16, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), adhere to concentric flanges 15, projecting alternately from the coupled discs 3. This construction does not appear in the Specification. as accepted.
