Abstract

479,607. Seats. McMILLAN, F. Aug. 14, 1936, No. 22456. [Class 52 (ii)] A folding chair comprises collapsable side frames formed as a parallelogram structure, of which one member 12 is extended to form a back supporting member 14, the member 10 parallel thereto being extended in the opposite direction to form a leg 5 and a third member 11 being extended to form a second leg 16. The back supporting members 14 have arm rests 1.7 and seat members 18 pivotally secured thereon, the extremities of the members 1.7, 18 being pivotally interconnected by links 20. The forward ends of the members 18 are joined by a cross-bar to which the canvas sheet 22 is attached, the other end of this sheet being attached to a cross-bar joining the upper ends of the members 14. The seat members 18 are provided with notches 24 with which stops 25 or a cross-bar may engage to support the seat and determine the inclination of the back portion. The seat members 18 may be pivoted to the members 14 above the pivotal point 19 of the members 11, 12, the seat and back of the seat being upholstered separately.
