Abstract
479,385. Slipping- clutches. BEUCRE, W. Nov. 21, 1936, No. 31949. [Class 80 (ii)] The driving member 2 is provided with a member 3, which can be shifted to an eccentric position, and the driven member 28 is provided with spring pegs 19, which are compressed in turn as the driving member rotates, until the driven member ultimately reaches the speed of the driving member. The ring 29 that touches the pegs is supported by an anti-friction bearing 30 on the eccentric 3. The eccentric is carried by a key 7 slidable in slots in the driving member 2 and also in a carrier 8, which is formed with an inclined slot (not shown) to engage a pin 9 secured to the key 7. When the. carrier 8 is moved axially, the eccentricity of the member 3 is varied, and when it is in the concentric position shown, no drive is transmitted. In a modified form, the ring 29 is connected to the driven member 28 by a series of bowsprings.
