Abstract
477,127. Gaiters &c. WEISENFELD, L. April 5, 1937, No. 9651. [Class 141] A gaiter or spat having inner and outer flaps 2 and 1 is provided on the inner flap 2 with a row of ball members 7 to engage with socket members 3 on the inner'surface of the outer flap 1, each of the ball members being mounted on the outer end of one of a group of elastic straps 8 mounted on the inner flap, each strap being detachably secured to the flap at its inner end. The socket members 7 may show on the outside of the flap 1 and may be designed to simulate buttons 5. The elastic straps 8 are formed of a continuous length of elastic webbing doubled upon itself and engaging a slot 9 in a metal loop 10 provided with a hook 11. A metal reinforcing plate 14 is placed between the ends of the webbing and is secured thereto by clamping discs 12, 13 by which the ball members also are secured. The straps 8 are secured to loops 16 on the inside of the inner flap by means of the hooks 11 and the ends carrying the ball members project through slits 15 in the flap. A strip of material 20 is secured to the inside of the flap 2 to cover the straps 8.
