Abstract
476,647. Plant; driving-gear. RICART, W. P. E. June 12, 1936, No. 16418. Convention date, Oct. 10, 1935. [Class 7 (ii)] Two engines, independent of each other except for a common crank-casing, have parallel crank-shafts and drive concentric propeller shafts through toothed gearing. The crank-shaft 10 drives the hollow shaft 27 through gear-wheels 25, 26, and the crankshaft 11 drives the inner shaft 32 through wheels 30, 31. Bearings 13, 14, and 21, 22 are provided on each side of the gearing elements and thrust bearings 16, 23 at the forward end.
