Abstract

476,568. Drawing - boards. EVANS, W. J. June 5, 1936, No. 15695. [Class 11] [Also in Group XX] A paper-receiving turntable 12, graduated at the periphery 41 and adapted to be secured in any desired position by locking means 47, is pivotally mounted on a base 10 and a straight edge 28 extends across the face of the turntable between parallel guides 27 by which it is caused to move parallel to itself. Rollers 36 mounted in heads 34 at each end of the straight edge 28 are adapted to engage ribs on the guides 27, which may be laterally adjusted relatively to the base 10 by screws. A pencil 50 may be carried by a slide 52 on the straight edge 28. The clamping device comprises a brake shoe adapted to be pressed against the turntable by the screw 47 and is provided with a locking pin 48 adapted to be moved axially into engagement with suitably spaced notches in the periphery of the turntable. In a modification, the ruler and guides are carried by a cover plate hinged to the base and having a central aperture through which the drawing paper is exposed. The latter is laid upon a rectangular raised portion on the turntable and has its margin clamped by a disc carrying the protractor graduations and apertured to fit closely round the raised portion.
