Abstract
475,494. Filters. TENNANT, W. J. (Pratt Co., H.) April 17, 1936, No. 11110. [Class 46] Filter elements 42, 43 are mounted in chambers 13, 14 respectively in a casing 10 having inlet and outlet fittings 11, 12 and valve discs 19, 29 pivoted on shafts 20, 30, so that they can be turned to close respectively the inlets and outlets to the chambers 13, 14. The chambers have also outlets 60, 61 controlled by quick-moving valves 63, 64. The arrangement is such that either element may be cleansed by closing the inlet of its chamber and allowing of a reverse flow of water which has been filtered through the other element to wash separated solid matter through the valve 63 or 64. Or both inlet and outlet of one of the chambers may be closed and the corresponding element removed for cleansing on opening the head 55 of the chamber, The shafts 20, 30 are journalled in rubber bearings and turned through worm gearing either manually or by power.
