Abstract
473,924. Knitting-machines; knitted fabrics. GETAZ, J. L. Aug. 25, 1936, No. 23308. Convention date, Dec. 10, 1935. [Class 74 (ii)] The starting up of seamless elastic hosiery on a circular knitting-machine is effected by interlacing an elastic yarn 20 alternately in front of and behind the needles, feeding a second unelastic yarn 12 to the hooks of all the needles and drawing alternate loops on opposite sides of their first yarn. The elastic yarn may be inserted under tension say at every third course in the welt or other part of a stocking, the contraction of the said yarn causing the welt &c. part to appear ribbed. As shown in Fig. 1, the elastic-thread 20 is fed below the latches of alternate needles 381 which have been raised by a cam 366. The remaining needles are then lifted and pass in front of the thread 20 after which all needles receive and knit the thread 13. Specification 102,711, [Class 74 (ii)], is referred to.
