472,783. Grinding. SACKSISCHE KNOPFUND BURSTENMASCHINEN WERKE GES. Nov. 16, 1936, No. 31325. Convention date, Dec. 4, 1935. [Class 60] In a button lathe, the turning tool 1 is ground by a grinding-disc 4 mounted on a shaft journalled in a bracket 5 connected by an arm 5a to a guide rod 8 slidable axially in the lathe frame by a handle 8<1> so as to move the disc 4, in the direction of the arrow C, up to and away from the tool 1, means also being provided whereby the drive of the disc is started and stopped as it reaches and leaves, respectively, the operative position. The rod 8 carries a support 9 slidable on a bar 10, the support 9 engaging a lever 19 pivoted to the frame and carrying an eccentric pin 21 which moves a sleeve 22 slidable on a shaft 14 so as to disengage, or to allow a spring 15 to engage a friction disc 13, slidably keyed on the shaft 14, with a friction disc 12 on the main driving pulley 11 ; the shaft 14 carries a pulley 16, which drives the grinding disc 4 through a belt 17 and long pulley 18.
