472,681. Bearings. AKTIEBOLAGET NOMY. Jan. 24, 1936, Nos. 2282 and 2283. Convention dates, Jan. 26, 1935 and March 15, 1935. [Class 12 (i)] An axial-thrust bearing has tilting pads 16 carried by a carrier 27 which receives its thrust from the shaft 11 through the " Cardan " rings 18 and the thrust distributing rings 22. The cardan rings only engage the shaft by a central rib 25 so that they can tilt slightly, these rings being arranged radially inside the bearing pads 16. In a modification, Fig. 10, the cardan rings are replaced by annular rings 40 which are deformable to allow slight tilting. In further modifications the cardan and thrust distributing rings are arranged radially outside the bearing surface.
