405,372. Stuffing-boxes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London, GRIFFITHS, L., 78, Biggin Hall Crescent, Stoke, and MORTON, C. J., 86, Wainbody Avenue, both in Coventry. Sept. 5, 1932, No. 24731. [Class 122 (v).] Oil is prevented from leaking along the shaft 4 by cork washers 1, 2 which are a tight fit on the shaft and are pressed against chamfered surfaces on the parts 5 and 6 by washers 8 and an interposed spring 7. A leather disc 9 held by a ring 10 also assists in preventing the travel of the oil.
