Abstract

471,185. Valve oscillators. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and BARNARD, R. M. Feb. 28, 1936, No. 6059. [Class 40 (v)] The discharging valve of a relaxation oscillator is tripped by rectified sinusoidal oscillations applied to its grid in negative phase. The condenser C2, Fig. 1, is charged over resistance R4 and condenser Cl and discharged through the valve V3. An oscillator V1 supplies sinusoidal oscillations to a rectifier V2, and the rectified oscillations are applied to the two grids of V3 whose bias is represented at XX<1>, Fig. 3, and which ceases to conduct at an input voltage AA<1>. The valve V3 is therefore conducting for a brief period in each half-cycle of the sinusoidal oscillation. The conducting period may be adjusted by varying the bias level XX<1>. Synchronizing signals may be applied at PY to control the sinusoidal oscillator VI. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the condenser C2 may be chosen from a plurality, and the valve V3 is replaced by a back-coupled triode valve.
