Abstract

A non-skidding and preservative dressing for tyre treads is made by heating to 150--200 DEG C. a mixture of linseed oil (50 parts), colophony (12 parts), manganese dioxide (2--3 parts) to which is added, after cooling, a mixture of coal tar naphtha (15 parts) and petroleum naphtha (20 parts). In a modification, 1 part of manganese resinate is added to a mixture of the constituents as above, and the whole heated gently until the colophony and resinate are dissolved.ALSO:A non-skidding and preservative dressing for tyre treads is made by heating to 150-200 DEG C. a mixture of linseed oil (50 parts), colophony (12 parts), manganese dioxide (2-3 parts) to which is added, after cooling, a mixture of coal tar naphtha (15 parts) and petroleum naphtha (20 parts).
