Abstract
An anti-slip rubber composition suitable for tyres &c comprises a hard substance covered with a stiff binding agent, adherent both to the base material and to rubber, which is admixed with rubber, the mixture being then vulcanized. As hard basic material emery, carborundum, corundum are specified, while as binding agents natural or artificial resins (particularly phenolsulphur or amino-sulphur resins which act as vulcanizing agents or accelerators) or heavy metal salts of organic hydroxy compounds, e.g. lead alcoholate, lead phenolate, lead glycerate, lead guaiacolate, lead cresolate or lead naphthalate, or mixtures of the above may be used. The rubber may be raw, in solution, or as latex. Carbon black or pigments may also be admixed.
