Abstract
469,775. Directive wireless signalling. SHARMA, D. N. Feb. 7, 1936, No. 3744. [Class 40 (v)] Relates to a radio-navigational system of the kind described in Specification 466,122, in which two overlapping beams are modulated on one side with say the syllable " CROY " and on the other with the syllable " DON," and consists in means for keying the beams alternately with these signals. The beams are radiated from two main aerial lines 4, 5, fed from the transmitter 1 and backed by reflectors 4B, 5B and associated resonators 3 and an earthed screen 2. Modulation is applied to the beams through a rotating disc 15, Fig. 4, formed with slots 20, 20A, marked with sound traces " CROY " and " DON " and carrying a coil 19 which couples the transmitter coil 16, in succession with the feeder coils 17 and 18. A double avenue of approach may be provided as shown in Figs. 6 and 6A, and lowpowered marker beacons may be associated to assist in making a blind landing.
