Abstract

The components of mixtures of crystalline salts readily soluble in water are separated by causing the mother liquor saturated in respect of the components to act only on the surface of the settled salt mixture to eliminate from the surface the more readily movable component, the salt mixture being caused to roll slowly to renew the surface without interference with the sedimentation. The rolling motion may be effected by means of an aggregate of worms, a helical band or a rotating tube having helicoidal ribs. Mixtures of copper sulphate and sodium sulphate or of potassium nitrate and ammonium chloride may be separated.ALSO:The components of mixtures of crystalline salts readily soluble in water are separated by causing the mother liquor saturated in respect of the components to act only on the surface of the settled salt mixture to eliminate from the surface the more readily movable component, the salt mixture being caused to roll slowly to renew the surface without interference with the sedimentation. The rolling motion may be effected by means of an aggregate of worms, a helical band or a rotating tube having helicoidal ribs. Mixtures of copper sulphate and sodium sulphate or of potassium nitrate and ammonium chloride may be separated.
