Abstract
466,435. Preparing tow rovings of jute, hemp, flax, &c. MOORHOUSE, S. Jan. 27, 1936, Nos. 2499 and 4806. [Class 120 (i)] In apparatus for the preparation of jute, hemp, flax and analogous tow rovings, slivers are led from four pairs of cans A<1>... A<4> by means of an upwardly inclined feed table constituted by four endless feed sheets B<1> ... B<4> operating between partitions D<1> ... D<5>. Each sheet feeds a pair of slivers S<1>, S<2> between the taker-in F and feed plate G to the card cylinder H. The operative surface of the cylinder H comprises four areas of card clothing H<1> ... H<4> separated by spaces J<1> ... J<3>, the taker-in F and doffer N being similarly arranged. Three sets of worker, stripper and guard or carrier rollers K<1>, L<1>, M<1>; K<2>, L<2>, M<2>; K<5>, L<3>, M<3> are provided and the slivers are fed from the doffer N by rollers 0<1>, 0<2> to four conductors P<1> ... P<4> thence between rollers Q<1>, Q<2> to a drafting head R having four pinned areas R<1> ... R<4> and then through delivery rollers T<1> ... T<8> to cans V<1> ... V<4>. The slivers may be delivered from the rollers Q<1>, Q<2> direct to the cans.
