Abstract

466,310. Machine guns. PILAIN, R. May 5, 1936, No. 12724. Convention date, July 17,1935. [Class 92 (ii)] The conduits F, G usually provided respectively for evacuating the cartridge-belt links and empty cartridge cases from the ejection openings on the gun are, according to the invention, pivotally carried on a plate A for ready attachment to the gun, the pivotal arrangement permitting the conduits to adapt themselves to elevational movements of the gun. Further, the upper or inlet end of the conduit G is fitted internally with a deflector plate L moving with the gun to impart to the cartridge cases a downwardly directed whirling trajectory towards the outlet. The inlet aperture in plate A is provided with inturned lips K<1> to prevent the cases springing back into the gun. The positions occupied by a case immediately after ejection from the gun and during contact with the deflector are shown at 1 ... 5 in Fig. 8. The conduit F is arranged to telescope within a sleeve I pivoted to the conduit G during elevational movements of the gun.
