[Class 20 (i)] A building such as a garage, warehouse, factory, or workshop, consists of at least two series of floors 9, 10, the floors in each series being arranged in stepped formation and successive floors of each series being connected by ramps 3. One or more floors in the building are common to at least two series or, alternatively, connecting floors 4 are provided, and the arrangement of the building is such that the path taken in traversing the floors and ramps of one series does not intersect the corresponding path of another series. In the construction shown such paths are of helical form, the successive floors being indicated by 0, <1>/4, <2>/4, <3> /4 and <4>/4. As seen in sectional elevation in Fig. 2, the complete building is of rectangular form consisting of two end blocks 1, 2, containing the stepped floors and front and rear connecting blocks for the floors 4. In modifications the ramps are arranged at the corners of the blocks and/or the ramps and floors of one series are arranged so that ascent or descent is effected by following an opposite spiral course from that shown. In another modification only three ramps are traversed in travelling from one storey to the next and in further arrangements each block contains two or more series of floors and ramps, each series providing helical tracks which may intersect, overly or be adjacent to another series.
