Abstract

465,368. Closures for bottles. CROSSLEY, F. B. K., RUSSELL, A. G., and MARKHAM, W. G. Jan. 3,1936, Nos. 296 and 18838. [Class 125 (iii)] A closure for a bottle &c., of the type comprising a stopper portion and a resilient skirt portion, which is stretched over the bead on the bottle, is characterized in that the part 5 where the two portions join each other is of less wall thickness than the rest of the closure. The stopper and skirt portions may be formed integrally, or as shown in Fig. 4, the stopper portion 6 may be attached to the skirt portion 3. As shown in Fig. 1, the stopper portion 1 may enter the mouth of the bottle, or may seat thereon, Fig. 4. For ventilation the skirt may be provided with longitudinal ribs and a pip, tongue or finger is provided for lifting the part 5 off its seating.
