Abstract
464,640. Ferry boats ; decks. HOENIG, E. Oct. 21, 1935, Nos. 29037/35 and 5653/36. [Class 113 (ii)] A ship or ferry boat particularly designed for the transport of vehicles is provided with a stepped deck or decks 2, 3, 4, 5, the steps of which are connected by ramps 6. The stepped decks or parts of them and the ramps provide a helical path along which vehicles can ascend or descend from a main deck 1 to an adjacent main deck above or below. A series of stepped decks may be superposed and thus provide a spiral path and deck space from the main deck to the bottom. The system may be duplicated by providing the complementary deck system with stepped decks 2<1>-5<1>. The two systems may have a common central portion to provide communication between the two paths. The difference in level between the units of the stepped decks 2-5 is from one to four feet. The ramps may be constructed as described in Specification 466,103, [Group X].
