Abstract
464,575. Sliding - clasp fasteners. SCHATZKY, F. Nov. 27, 1936, No. 32568. [Class 44] In sliding-clasp fasteners for application to curved slits or apertures the fastener elements are shaped so that contacting faces of adjacent elements lie in planes normal to the curve of the slit &c. and converging towards the centre of curvature. Fig. 2 shows the application to a slit s of circular form in which the elements a<1>, all taper towards the centre o. The application to apertures of varying curvature, and disposed on flat, conical, or cylindrical surfaces is described. The slider may have elastic walls and a laterally displaceable wedge member to allow adaptation to the curve of the fastening, Fig. 7, showing a slider with rigid back and front plates 2 and blade-spring side walls 4<1>, 4<11>, the wedge 6 being pivoted at 7. Alternatively, the slider may be shortened by omitting all or part of the usual side walls at the narrow end of the slider, or, where the curvature is constant, as in Fig. 2, the slider may be rigid and curved to correspond with the curve, as in Fig. 8.
