464,536. Hydraulic transmission of power. LEE, G. A., and HALL, A. W. April 17, 1936, No. 11120. [Class 69 (ii)] ' In hydraulic power transmission devices comprising radial cylinders mounted in a casing 1, Fig. 2, on the driving shaft 5, with pistons 16 operatively connected to the driven shaft, the cylinders communicate preferably through non-return valves 19 with a circulating pipe 21, Fig. 3, provided with one or more outlet valves 23, which are adapted to be closed by centrifugally operated members 24 when the speed of the casing reaches a predetermined valve. The pivots 28 of the members 24 may be out of line with the valves, to allow the latter to open under pressure due to excessive load on the driven shaft. The pistons have rollers 15 engaging a cam 9 on the driven shaft, and their suction strokes may be effected by springs, or by engagement of pins 14 with a groove 13 in a member 12. The shaft 5 may have a bearing in the driven shaft, or may end in a flange fixed to the casing.
