Abstract

464,298. Bolts; dowels. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and HAHN, E. Oct. 31, 1935, No. 30032. [Classes 89 (i) and 89 (ii)] [Also in Group XXII] A screw, bolt, or the like c having a dished head a provided with peripheral teeth or spikes is placed in a recess b formed in a body of synthetic resin, wood, asbestos or similar material, the head being then flattened to cause the teeth or spikes permanently to bite into the walls of the recess, the screw or the like being thus secured in position without perforating the body. Before insertion, glue may be placed in the recess to increase the adhesion. In making the screw or the like, small sections cut from a fluted rod are turned down and provided with a thread, Fig. 2, the screw or the like being then placed in a press to give the head a dished form.
