463,536. Propulsion plant for ships. FRANCOIS CEMENTATION CO., Ltd. Nov. 16, 1936, No. 31288. Convention date, Sept. 12. [Class 122 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] The complete propulsion plant for ships including the engines, transmission and mounting of the propellers is combined and mounted on a structure rigid in itself which in turn is resiliently mounted in the hull. A frame 4 is supported in the hull of a ship 5 through springs 6 and it carries the engine 3, the transmission shaft 2 and the hub portion of a propeller 1, the blades of which rotate about a vertical axis. In another form, the shaft of the engine drives two transverse shafts 2, each coupled to a propeller. The plant accessories such as pumps, compressors, and dynamos are carried by the same frame 4.
