[Class 97 (i)] [Also in Groups XXXVIII and XL] Figs. 1 and 3 show a combined apparatus for taking and projecting pictures and for recording and reproducing sound in which the film is fed from a spool 11 over one side of the sprocket wheel 12, through the picture gate 19, and around a device 37 containing a photo-electric cell back to the other side of the sprocket 12 from whence it passes to the take-up spool 10. The spindle 15, which carries the sprocket 12 and is driven from a motor 14, also carries a pulley 16 driving by a slipping belt 17 a pulley 18 on the shaft 51 of the spool 10 so that this spool is enabled to adjust its speed to that of the sprocket. The shaft of the motor 14 is extended through a gear box 23 to a coupling 24 which drives by gearing 25 the spindle 34 of the shutter mechanism 26. The film is fed intermittently through the picture gate by fork mechanism 20 operated by mechanism driven by an eccentric 50 driven by screw gearing 21 operated by the motor 14. The shutter mechanism, Fig. 7, comprises a vane 28 fixed on the spindle 34 surrounding which is a sleeve 35 which carries an adjustable vane 27 provided with pins 32, 33 adapted to be held by a spring 36 in corresponding holes in the vane 28. -When pictures are being taken, the vane 27 registers with the vane 28 whilst, when pictures are being projected, the vane 27 is adjusted so that the vanes are diametrically opposite one another.
