Abstract

<PICT:0462103/III/1> A hand apparatus for light-ray treatments incorporates a two - pole glow discharge tube 2 for alternating current of low frequency, preferably of quartz and with a gas filling varying with the effect desired. The casing 1 for the tube acts as a handle and incorporates a transformer 3. The secondary terminals of the transformer are in direct contact with the contacts of the tube electrodes. The tube may comprise two concentric quartz tubes, the inner one having a trumpet-like opening 32 to increase the concentration of the rays at the end. It may be used for irradiating body cavities such as the larynx, nose, and vagina or for sterilizing and activating milk, water and like liquids.
