Abstract

461,532. Spray carburetters. SOC. ANON. DES ATELIERS GAMAIN. July 6, 1936, No. 18741. Convention date, July 6, 1935. [Class 7 (iii)] In an engine fed with a mixture of light fuel-air mixture and heavy fuel-air mixture in variable proportions, adjusting valves for the primary mixtures are disposed adjacently between the throttle valve of the engine and the light fuel jet and heavy fuel jet or jets, one adjusting valve opening as the other closes, and a supplementary light fuel jet is arranged directly under the throttle valve but without the interposition of an adjusting valve. A casting 10 houses a common throttle valve 11 for the light and heavy fuel carburetters 12, 13 and separate, but interconnected adjusting valves 20, 19 for their respective control. The light fuel carburetter 12 supplies a normal running nozzle 17, the usual slow speed and starting nozzles, and in addition a "constant feed " nozzle 18, which delivers a light fuel charge directly beneath the common throttle 11 to ensure a smooth change over from one fuel to another. Fuel for the heavy fuel nozzle 14 is heated in its passage from the float chamber along a long passage 26 in the float chamber casting, the casting being heated by a byepass 6, on the exhaust pipe 2 and controlled by a valve 7 which may be operated simultaneously with the accelerator rod 36. The casting is surrounded by a similarly controlled casing for directing warm air around the nozzle 14. Clamps such as 32, secure the float chamber castings, which include the fuel nozzles, to the casting 10.
