Abstract
461,330. Valve circuits for wireless reception; filter circuits. COLE, Ltd., E. K., aud FALKUS, A. E. Aug. 15, 1935, No. 22969. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] In a radio receiver, the whistle due to interference by adjacent wave-lengths or other causes is wholly or in part suppressed by connecting across the path of the detected signal a condenser 3 in series with an inductance 5, the latter being shunted by a variable resistance 6. The effective reactance in the branch circuit 3, 5, 6, is zero at the whistle frequency. When interference is not present, the resistance serves as a tone control, and when the tapping passes its extreme lower position the control knob may open a switch 4. Other branch circuits such as 8 may be tuned to other interfering frequencies. The branch circuit may be interposed between a detector valve V1 and an amplifier V2.
