Abstract

Diesel fuels are primed with nitroxyl ethylene chlorhydrin <FORM:0461320/III/1> hydrin. For example, 0,5--5,0 per cent of primer is added to the 160--320 DEG C. fraction of coal or petroleum oil. The primer may be added as a solution, e.g. in part of the fuel oil. According to the Provisional Specification, halogen-substituted nitro-bodies of low volatility are used as the primers, replacing a mixture such as ethyl nitrate and butyl bromide; specified primers are the above hydrins, and the mono-, di-, and tri-brom-nitromethanes.
