Abstract

Head and body coverings for medical treatment comprise: (1) a cap of iron-containing asbestos cloth, having several thicknesses at the top, fitted internally with serrated rubber sheeting, and having superposed upon it a cap comprising several thicknesses of artificial silk, the caps being secured by a superposed rubber strap fastened beneath the chin, and preferably having copper gauze interposed between them; (2) a strip of iron-containing asbestos cloth covered by flannelette or other fabric and carrying a pad of sphagnum moss applied in use to the nape of the neck, the strip being wound round the neck and secured by elastic strings; (3) a body-encircling band of asbestos cloth as above covered by a strip of copper gauze of half its length and further covered by flannelette, the band being secured by elastic straps wound several times around the body and tied together.
