Abstract
460,373. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and JENKINS, H. G. July 26, 1935, No. 21288. [Class 39 (i)] In electric discharge devices having cold cathodes, at least one of the main electrodes 5 is hollow with a glass coating 6 on its edge, which abuts on or is so near to a constriction 3 in the wall of the envelope, that the discharge cannot pass between the coated edge and the constriction. The electrode is supported solely by its leading-in wires 9. The constriction may be formed by a mica washer fixed to the envelope wall and pierced centrally. A filling of mercury is used. U.S.A. Specification 1,984,482 is referred to.
