Abstract

N-Aminoalkyl-anthranilic acid alkyl esters are prepared by treating an anthranilic acid alkyl ester with an aminoalkyl halide or by esterifying an N-aminoalkyl-anthranilic acid with an alcohol. The products possess therapeutic properties. Examples are given of the preparation of (1) N-b -diethylaminoethylanthranilic acid ethyl ester by heating anthranilic acid ethyl ester with b -diethylaminoethyl chloride in chloroform solution: (2) N-b -diethylaminoethyl - anthranilic acid butyl ester by esterifying N-b -diethylaminoethylanthranilic acid, obtained by reacting anthranilic acid with b -diethylaminoethyl chloride, with butyl alcohol either by heating the acid and excess of alcohol in the presence of hydrogen chloride or by interaction of the alcohol with the hydrochloride of the acid chloride, prepared by treating the acid with phosphorus pentachloride in benzene solution. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes also the preparation of (3) N-b -aminoethyl - anthranilic acid ethyl ester by heating anthranilic acid ethyl ester with the hydrochloride of b -aminoethyl chloride; (4) N-b -butylaminoethyl-anthranilic acid ethyl ester by using b -butylaminoethyl chloride, obtainable from b -butylaminoethanol and hydrochloric acid gas at 200 DEG C. with distillation of the water formed, in the process of (3); (5) N-b -piperidinoethyl - anthranilic acid ethyl ester from b -piperidinoethyl chloride and anthranilic acid ethyl ester. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to French Patent of Addition Specification 22,632.
