Abstract
459,162. Cleaning tanks &c. ARNESEN, O., 10, Alfheimveien, Nedre Bekkelaget pr., Oslo, Norway. July 2,1935, No. 18944. [Class 21] A device for cleaning oil tanks &c. by a spray of steam, water, caustic soda, cleaning oils, &c., comprises a tube 6, Figs. 1 and 3, carrying nozzles and sliding over a fixed tube 1 fitted with a gland 7, the tube 6 being given an axial and rotary movement by means of a fixed nut 9 carried by arms 10 of channel section and engaging a screw-thread 8 on the outside of the tube, a spur-wheel 17 keyed so that it may slide on tube 6 being driven by a spur-wheel 19 carried on a shaft 20 rotated, e.g. by a ratchet 21. Arms 14 carrying nozzles 15 and jointed at 13 so that they may be raised to the vertical position, may be employed. In a modified form, spur-wheel 17 is fixed to stuffing-box 7 and moves with it, spur-wheel 19 being mounted on a shaft which is also axially movable.
