Abstract
458,630. Glass manufacture. VERRERIES GOBELETERIES L'ESPERANCE SOC. ANON., Manage, Belgium. Feb. 3, 1936, No. 3290. Convention date, Feb. 2, 1935. [Class 56] A mould for the production of blown glassware, in which an article produced is subsequently separated into two vessels, is characterized by the feature that the neck of the mould corresponds to a retained portion of one of the vessels, the glass in the neck of the mould being worked into the wall of the vessel immediately after blowing. The mould comprises two half sections 3, Fig. 1, hinged together, the mould cavity being so shaped that the finished article forms two vessels 14, 15, Fig. 2, when cut along the line 13. The bottom of the vessel 14 is formed by the mould, while the bottom of the vessel 15 is formed by closing a portion of the glass 17 by which it is attached to the blowpipe 18. In order to ensure sufficient glass for the purpose, the neck portion of the mould is elongated, and it has an enlargement at 12, Fig. 1, which forms on the finished article an enlargement 21 that indicates where the portion 17 is to be separated. Instead of forming a flat bottom on the vessel 15, a foot may be attached in the usual way.
