[Class 81 (ii)] [See also Group XXIX] Apparatus for respiration of oxygen with or without air at high altitudes comprises a casing c, Fig. 3, containing a diaphragm b, the movements of which during inhalation control the supply of oxygen. The diaphragm has an upstanding stem b<1> connected to a lever d, Figs. 1 and 3, having resting thereon, by a roller o<1>, a second lever e, pivoted at e<1>. A cranked strap p on lever e has a loose engagement, which eliminates the effect of vibration, with the stem q of an oxygen supply valve a. A coil spring f, Fig. 3, is provided between the stem b<1> and the opposite side of the casing. Oxygen, released through valve a on rise of the diaphragm during inhaling through a connection k, Fig. 1, passes through a conduit l and thence via an injector i to a conduit m leading to connection k. An air inlet valve s, when open, permits external air to be drawn in by the injector action. The valve s comprises an apertured disc s<10> rotatable on a spindle s<2>, by a finger piece s<1>, in relation to an apertured cover plate z. Instead of a hand-operated air valve an apertured slide valve u, u<1>, Fig. 3, adjustably connected by a nut and bolt t<1> to an aneroid capsule t may be used. The casing c has a screw-on apertured cover plate v adjustably clamping a ring y with lugs y<1> for securing the apparatus by spacing members, for example, to the side of an aircraft.
