Abstract
455,259. Batteries. YOULE, C. G., and BLAKEY, S., Millgate Works, Rotherham. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2470. [Class 53] An accumulator is provided with a lid consisting of a part a of ebonite or other material to which is attached a part b consisting of a disc c of ebonite or other material having a moulded bushing d of rubber or other resilient material surrounding the edges of the disc c. The rubber d may also cover the upper surface of the disc c. In the case of an accumulator comprising two cells two separate members b may be attached to a single plate a which covers both cells. The disc c and bushing d may both be bevelled, and the part a may be cut away as shown at j<1> to enable the lid to be prised open by a tool. The parts a, b may be connected together by the terminals and by screws n which pass through a lead bar o embedded in the part a and which connects adjacent cells in series. The parts a, b may also be secured together by screws which engage the filling openings of the cells. Vent tubes f pass through the parts b of the lid and connect with horizontal passages extending from the middle of the part a to the circumference.
