454,198. Aircraft tail -wheels and tail-skids. ELEKTRONMETALL GES., 26, Pragstrasse, Cannstatt, Stuttgart, Germany. Dec. 20, 1935, No. 35309. Convention date, Feb. 19. [Class 4] In a tail-wheel or tailskid mounting in which a shock-absorber 2 is built into the rear of the aircraft fuselage so as to rise rearwardly, and the tail wheel 7 or skid element is arranged to swing about an axis C C vertical or inclined towards the bow of the aircraft with respect to the surface on which the aircraft taxies, the support bearing 5 which carries the tail-wheel or tail - skid is connected with the lower end of the shock-absorber so as to move in a straight line in the direction of the shock-absorber axis. The angle which the shock-absorber axis makes with the vertical may be about 20‹.
