454,022. Windings for dynamo-electric machines. BRAHAM, G. W., Highwood, Dartford Road, Farningham, Kent. March 27, 1935, No. 9524. Drawings to Specification. [Class 35] [See also Groups XXXVIII and XXXVII] In a system of electric control wherein the controlled apparatus may be operated in synchronism with a step-by-step transmitter or independently of the transmitter by the same motor adapted for operation from an alternative source, the motor is provided with a winding tapped to a commutator to provide for operation as a D.C. motor and to slip rings for operation as a step-by-step motor under the control of the transmitter. The winding of the machine is arranged as a re-entrant winding for direct current operation and a symmetrical winding for A.C. operation. The common armature winding is wound in the same direction throughout and the three phases are disposed at two-thirds of a polar pitch to each other, each phase being arranged in slots which are separated by a polar pitch and are used exclusively for the phase and being constituted by adjacently disposed sections connected across consecutive commutator segments.
