Abstract
453,563. Pen, pencil, &c. holders. GERSTER, E., 24, Luisenstrasse, Berne, Switzerland. March 11, 1936, No. 7409. [Class 146 (iii)] A holder for a writing element is formed of a thin-walled tube having at least one inwardly directed projection, which owing to the thinness of the tube wall is resilient so as to grip the writing member in the holder against displacement and rotation. The tube 1, of avional, anticorrodal, or aluminium alloy or of cellulose or a synthetic resin product is provided with three longitudinal ribs 3 of circular cross-section, which grip a pencil 5, or a plug 7 between which and the wall of the tube a nib 4 is held. The plug is bored at 10 so that the pencil can be expelled by means of a rod, or may be resilient and of U-shaped cross-section. Either or both ends of the tube may be cut off obliquely. A hexagonal sleeve to prevent rolling may be secured to the end of the tube, which may itself be of polygonal cross-section. The pencil can be reversed when not in use and the space between pencil and plug can be used for storing nibs &c. The nibs 3 may be of different depths at the two ends to hold different sizes of pencil, and may end conically to facilitate insertion of the pencil. One or two ribs only may be provided to grip a square pencil. The outside of the tube may be matt, polished, or ornamented.
