Abstract

453,184. Equipments for carrying loads. MONK, B., 2, Beechwood Road, Sanderstead, Surrey, and RICKWOOD, H. J., Ellenden, Hawkhurst, Kent. June,19, 1935, No. 17649. [Class 141] An equipment for enabling the wearer to carry a load when in a crouching or kneeling position, e.g. carrying a stretcher in a mine, comprises a belt fitted with means whereby the pull of the load always passes through a hip joint. The belt comprises layers of canvas fitted with transverse metal stiffeners 38, 40 and with a longitudinal leather stiffener 35. The load is carried by slings 30 carried by straps 16, 17 arranged V fashion, the latter being fitted with a ring 24. The slings are provided with slip rings 32 for locking the slings on to the inserted members, the rings being furnished with fixing straps 34. In a modification, the slings are carried by rings secured to single straps, the lower ends of the straps passing through loops fixed to the belt.
